In this project, I enhanced my first viewing of acclaimed 1998 sci-fi anime series Cowboy Bebop by also collecting the garbled/interesting English (or sometimes just visual design) displayed on user interfaces or signs in the series. I view this as a collection of visual or concrete poetry. Some of it is funny, but never to the detriment of the series. Most of the images I've collected appear on screen only for a few seconds maximum. This nonstandard English reflects the power of globalization (English is the universal language of the whole Sol system in Bebop) and the development of a new dialect that just exists inside the creators/background artists of Cowboy Bebop. These images showcase the bending and breaking, reformulation and deterritorialization of English as a language. Below I've collected 87 images from the 26 episodes. Clicking any image should open it up to its full size. Inquiring minds might want to know: is DeathNET (pictured below) real? After some research, I believe it is and this is the page that used to house it.
